The Ontrack DXT1:  It's a dual-axis revolution

Ontrack Solar began with one foundational goal...

Create the lightest weight, most durable, most adaptable and easiest-to-install commercial-grade tracker in the industry.

After years of refined research, design, development and testing, that idea has become the Ontrack DXT1 Dual-Axis Solar Tracker. The DXT1 is built from the ground up to be a major improvement over anything else under the sun.

One Revolutionary Tracker:  Many Design Innovations

Integrated Beam Design
Rapid Install
Remote Access 24/7
Balanced Zero Mass
Dual-Axis Tracking
Tracking the sun is only one aspect of the Ontrack DXT1. Our entire structure is revolutionary. The DXT1 is engineered to maximize resources, energy and opportunity.  From the Universal Mounting System where the support assembly is made up of our innovative integrated beams to our tracker controls, the DXT1’s simple design reduces installation labor and increases structural strength.

The DXT1 has several next-generation technologies that will increase energy yield while decreasing costs in installation and maintenance.  They include the Integrated Beam*, Universal Panel Mounting System, Full-Length FastClamp Bar, TCX2 Tracker Controller, Ontrack App Service Tool, and more.

Dual-Axis Tracking

ACTUAL DATA from our prototype trackers located near Dallas, Texas, in January.
Summer efficiency will be even greater. Variables impacting power yields include location, weather, elevation and time of year.
The Ontrack TCX2 Tracker Controller is a cost effective, microprocessor-based solar tracking controller suitable for dual-axis or single-axis tracking applications.  It is a network-ready controller, and may be configured to operate as a single tracker application or be part of a larger commercial multi-tracker solar array.

Compared to standard fixed-mounted systems, the DXT1 lets you harvest up to 45% more solar power.

You’ll be able to track the sun at adjustable intervals from two seconds to ten minutes, all with a tracking accuracy of up to 0.1 degrees.

Although this efficiency is impressive – and the potential savings are obvious – it’s nothing compared to the engineering that makes it all happen.

It's All About the Beam

DESIGNED TO GLIDE

Our Integrated Beams are precisely manufactured by first laser-cutting high quality steel, then forming it into a laminated structural beam, much like that used in the aerospace industry. These integrated beams slide (adjust easy) into place and are securely mounted to the Rack Support Assembly, thus creating the Panel Mounting Rack.

This patent pending design is incredibly lightweight (60% less than traditional I-beam), which means lower shipping costs and easier installation. Less weight also means reduced wear on your overall unit, extending the life of your solar tracker.

BUILT TOUGH

Lightweight doesn’t mean light duty. In an independent Finite Element Application (FEA) test, the DXT1 received high ratings for wind load, with the DXT1 surviving winds up to 105 mph at a ten degree elevation (nearly vertical), with a 1.5 factor of safety (FOS). Additionally, our split panel design provides two unique benefits. First, it creates a Zero Center-of-Mass, balancing the elevation load and eliminating overhung weight. Second, it features a gap that reduces the wind load on the DXT1.

The end result? A well-balanced tracker with fewer moving parts that reduces wear and operating costs. That’s a win- win!
AEROSPACE DESIGN

Ontrack solar trackers are better looking, too. With our simple and sophisticated approach to design, the DXT1 is pleasing to the eye. You’ll want to display your planet-and-money-saving technology for all to see.

SPECIAL OPTIONS

We know that our customers will use their trackers in different environments and have unique needs. Since we engineer and fabricate each piece ourselves right here in the USA, we have the ability to customize systems to meet your needs. Do you need custom colors or corrosion-resistant materials? Optional panel security screws? No problem.  Contact us to discuss your project.

Universal Mounting System

Simple to assemble and it accepts all panel manufacturers? Yes.  Put these three assemblies together and you are ready to easily mount panels from all manufacturers. Panels simply slide into the integrated beams and clamp down. It’s all engineered to simplify the process ... and the panel mounting system is in the Integrated Beams!

Simple Slide & Clamp Panel Installation

When installation is more efficient, everybody saves. Like everything else about the Ontrack DXT1, installation efficiency has been thoughtfully designed into the system.

Our Universal Mounting System with the patent pending integrated beam design can accommodate most solar panels from all manufacturers. With the FastClamp Bar (full-length)all you do is slide the panels in and fasten them down.

This system is optimal for high-wind or extreme climate applications, as well as expedited installations. The full length fastclamp bar also adds to the rack’s structural integrity.

Unlike the competition, mounting panels is just plain fast. And when the whole array is lighter and easier to handle, installation teams are in and out in no time.

Access. Anytime. Anywhere.

With the optional web app, you'll save time in the field with remote access:

  • Send and receives system messages
  • Monitor status and position
  • Capture performance data
  • Control operations remotely
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot remotely
  • Desktop or iOS/Android smart device compatible

So you can maintain constant communication and control every aspect of the DXT1.
With a wireless Ethernet connection and full GPS capabilities.

Set up is easy.  Attach a satellite antennae, enter the date and time, latitude and longitude, and then the sun’s location will be calculated instantly.

All this data is then stored on a secure server so you’ll be able to access, monitor and control your system anywhere in the world.
Increase your response time to all weather conditions with the optional Ontrack App, our iPhone/iPad app that lets you control every aspect of the DXT1. Learn more here.

Balanced Center of Mass

Low Center of Gravity Design

Large solar arrays must be designed to withstand greater wind and snow loads during inclimate weather while also reliably operating under the mass of its own structural weight.  That is why our engineering team went one step further with the design of the DXT1 Dual-Axis Tracker.

Our split panel design provides two unique benefits.

Utilizing a lower center of gravity, the DXT1’s linear actuator only has to operate against wind and snow loads.  The robust azimuth slewing gear drive does the rest.

  • Balanced system equals stressless operation
  • Less wear
  • Dual sealed bearings offers lifetime performance
  • Linear actuator operates the elevation of a balanced system
  • Less power to operate
  • Reliable 17-inch azimuth slewing gear drive
  • Reduced operating and maintenance costs
